Unique Brutalist coffee table, made in the Netherlands during the second half of the 20th century.
The table is characterized by its strong architectural construction and highly graphic square composition. The tabletop is built from numerous individual sections of wood arranged in an intricate geometric pattern, with projecting elements around the perimeter creating an almost puzzle-like silhouette.
The substantial top is supported by four sculptural clustered legs, continuing the geometric language of the tabletop and giving the table a particularly strong presence despite its low proportions.
Made in oak, the surface has developed a warm and expressive patina, with visible grain, variations in tone and traces of age that emphasize the handmade character of the piece. Comparable Dutch furniture from this period is often associated with the Brutalist movement, where solid materials, visible construction and strongly geometric forms were central to the design language.
A very unusual and, to our knowledge, unique example of Dutch Brutalist furniture. Its generous 120 × 120 cm format makes it particularly suitable as a central coffee table in a large seating arrangement.
