Rare set of four ‘Model 780’ stacking coffee tables designed by Gianfranco Frattini for Cassina in 1966. A beautiful example of refined Italian modernism, these tables combine sculptural simplicity with highly functional modular design.
Executed in white lacquered wood, the tables are designed to stack perfectly into one compact cylindrical form when not in use, creating an architectural object in itself. Each table features a reversible top with one black side and one white side, allowing different compositions and contrasts depending on the interior setting.
Gianfranco Frattini was one of the most influential Italian designers of the postwar period and worked closely with some of Italy’s leading manufacturers, including Cassina. His designs are known for their elegant proportions, intelligent functionality, and understated sophistication — qualities clearly present in this iconic modular table set.
The tables can be used individually as side tables or grouped together as a modular coffee table arrangement. Original Cassina labels are still present.
In used vintage condition with visible wear, scratches, small chips, and patina consistent with age and use. Please see pictures for details.
