Unusual set of six wooden seating pieces, consisting of two chairs with backrests and four matching stools, sourced in Italy.
This remarkable set combines a strong architectural design with a minimalist aesthetic reminiscent of traditional Japanese furniture. The solid-looking geometric wooden structures feature a beautiful dark brown finish, creating a warm contrast with the natural woven seat cushions.
The two chairs feature distinctive rectangular backrests with geometric cut-outs, giving them an almost sculptural appearance. The four matching stools share the same construction and proportions, allowing the pieces to be arranged together or used individually.
Each piece comes with a removable woven seat cushion inspired by traditional Japanese tatami mats, finished with contrasting dark fabric edges.
The simplicity of the construction, natural materials and visible signs of age give this set a beautiful wabi-sabi character. An interesting combination of functional furniture and sculptural design.
The set is in good vintage condition, with visible signs of age and use, including marks, scratches and patina to the wooden surfaces. (see pictures)
