Rare pair of French rattan lounge chairs designed by Janine Abraham and Dirk Jan Rol and produced by Rougier in France during the 1950s.

Janine Abraham and Dutch-born Dirk Jan Rol began collaborating in France during the 1950s and developed several rattan designs for Rougier. Their work helped introduce a distinctly modern architectural language to a material more traditionally associated with conservatory furniture. Their celebrated Soleil armchair, created in 1956, was awarded a gold medal at the 1958 Brussels World's Fair.
