Tetra Coffee Table by Bernard Vuarnesson, Signed, Italy, 1970s
Vintage Tetra coffee table designed by Bernard Vuarnesson, a French designer known for his ingenious modular and transformable furniture pieces. Vuarnesson founded the company Bellato in the 1960s and became well known for designs that combine clever engineering with elegant woodworking. His pieces often feature hidden mechanisms or extendable elements that make them both playful and highly functional.
This Tetra coffee table is a beautiful example of his work. The table features a solid wooden structure with a central grid top and four pull-out trays that slide smoothly from each side. Each tray is reversible with a black side and a white side, allowing the appearance of the table to be changed depending on the setting or interior.
When closed, the table forms a compact square coffee table. When the trays are extended, additional surfaces appear around the central element, creating a flexible and functional layout. The warm tone of the wood contrasts nicely with the graphic black and white tray panels.
The table is signed and remains in good vintage condition with light signs of age and use consistent with its period.
Measurements
Height: 30.5 cm
Width: 59.5 cm
Depth: 59.5 cm
Maximum width with trays extended: approx. 124.5 cm
